Eating Disorders

Seeking support for an individual with an eating disorder can be very daunting and confusing. Ideally an experienced treatment team should be set up to ensure physical, psychological, social and behavioural needs are addressed. A Dietitian is a key member of this team.

The Dietitian’s role may involve assistance with identifying and reaching weight goals, advice on “normal” and healthy eating, assistance with re-learning social eating or allowing “treats”, and most importantly, giving the individual with an eating disorder (and their family) a break from all the rules and restrictions an eating disorder may have imposed.

It is extremely important to choose a Dietitian that is experienced in eating disorders. Trust and appropriate support are extremely important on the pathway to recovery. Sarah is very experienced in working with individuals with an eating disorder, whether the diagnosis is anorexia nervosa, bulimia, binge-eating disorder or eating disorder not otherwise specified (EDNOS).

Sarah recognises the bravery it takes to seek dietetic support and provides a supportive and non-judgemental environment. She enjoys helping individuals and families restore the wellbeing that an eating disorder can steal away.
